Starting Over with Obsidian — My Blog Finds a Home on Publish
My blog is moving to Obsidian Publish. A reflection on the journey, my love for Markdown, and the search for simplicity in content management.
Ok, I’m back. This post was originally published on my personal blog, where I chronicle my journey with tech and writing. It’s been quite a few months since my last post. In the meantime, our lives, Iaina’s and mine, have moved on — we even finally managed to buy a house! 🎉.
Oh, and then I decided to move the blog. Yes, once again. But this time I didn’t bring all the old posts with me: I left them at the old address (blog.stranianelli.com).
Over time, my blog has found a home in various places. For a while, it was a blog on Altervista, then I moved to WordPress. I was happy for a while, but then things started to feel constricting. If I’m not mistaken, I also tried Blogger.
At a certain point, I realized I didn’t really have full control over what I was writing. Not that I’ve written that much, but I started to feel uneasy at the prospect of losing what I had written due to the whims of any platform. I looked around and fell in love with Markdown. I moved my blog to GitHub and started using Jekyll.
